In an air conditioning system, chilled water is usually dispensed to a heat exchanger, or coils are cooled in an air handling unit, or other type of terminal equipment in their respective spaces (S air), then the cooling water is redistributed back to the cooling and cooled. These cooling coils transfer sensible heat and latent heat from the air to the chilled water, thus typically dehumidifying the cooling air stream. A typical air conditioning unit is rated for 15 to 1500 tons (180,000 18,000,000 British thermal units / h or 53 to 5,300 kW). The chilled water temperature ranges from 35 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit or 1.5 to 7 degrees Celsius, depending on the application.
