Necessity and method of setting oil trap in air conditioning system
The main purpose of setting up oil traps (or oil separators) in an air conditioning system is to ensure effective return of refrigerant oil to the compressor and to separate and return lubricating oil within the system when the compressor returns oil, thus ensuring proper lubrication of system components. This prevents potential compressor damage due to oil shortage. Oil traps typically comprise of two "U" shaped bends. Placing oil traps in vertical pipe routes helps prevent gravitational effects from impeding the oil flow back to the compressor.
Additionally, on the riser pipes of the refrigerant lines, a return oil trap should be installed at intervals of 4.5 meters upwards, with additional oil traps and check valves installed at the lowest and highest points, ensuring continuous oil circulation and system stability. These measures significantly contribute to prolonging the equipment's lifespan, minimizing the risk of malfunctions, and ultimately ensuring the performance and reliability of the air conditioning system.
